June 12

We chased storms west of Emporia, KS and saw some fantastic lightning. There was some rotation, but to tornado touched down that we saw.

June 11

We chased several storms from Beloit westward. We ended up in Salina, KS and took shelter in a gas station from hail. When the storm passed by, we finished the day off at Chili's, but another storm was approaching with large hail. I took the van to the mal and parked it under the dumpster overhang for protection then ran to the Chili’s to get in just as 3" hail started pounding down on us. We saw one large power flash and made out a tornado next to it that passed just to our south.

June 7

The day started in SE Nebraska. We ended up going SW into Kansas and seeing a fantastic supercell north of Osborne, KS that produced a brief tornado.

May 29

We chased one supercell in Nebraska and watched as a tornado went through Kearny, NE from the south. The storm became precip dominated and it was difficult to see ay details. We then targeted another storm in Kansas. We made it to the storm just as it produced a tornado west of Osborne. We tracked it all the way to Glen Elder where it produced a wedge. Debris across the road eventually blocked our way. Since it was getting dark, we packed it in for the day.

May 26

We chased storms from Greensburg, KS to east of Pratt. Near Collison, we took shelter from 2" hail and filmed it from the safety of the shelter. When it had died down a bit, we continued east. Just before we made it to Pratt, we saw a tornado just to our southwest. The multi-vortex tornado continued just south of the road on the east side of Pratt. When we got ahead of the storm, it had the stacked pancake apperance.

May 25

Today's chase ended up in LaCross, KS. We saw a VERY low wall cloud with a cinomon swirl look. It dropped one tornado that touched down very briefly just SW of LaCross. Then it produced a needle funnel over LaCross. We couldn't verify a touchdown of the needle. Later a brief landspout formed just east of Bison.

May 23

We intercepted the first tornado to cross I-70 at Quinter, KS. It eventually wedged out north of the interstate. In the wedge picture, it looks like there is a satellite tornado. At dark, we came up on the 2nd Ellis tornado on the interstate from the west. A truck passed us and stopped ahead on the shoulder. I could see the tornado in my viewfinder. the truck blew over and I aimed the camera at it, but I guess I got off of infinity and it was way out of focus as the truck flipped over. Then the tornado got wrapped in rain and got BIG. It backed up a little to the west and we turned around and went the wrong way on the interstate to get out of there.

May 14

We chased the storm from San Angelo to Marble Falls. We experienced the hook in Brady where tree branches and siding were flying through the air. Near Eden, we experienced VERY close lighting. We were all outside watching the storm when the first strike hit VERY close! It was a warning shot that all took seriously. We stayed in the vans for the rest of the barrage of close bolts. Mark was able to capture the initial bolt on video. In Marble falls, we found a fantastic lookout over the city. Mike shot one picture of a possible tornado. Then we experienced the south side of the hook. We measured 62MPH wind gusts before calling it a day.

May 6

We had high hopes for today. Our target was Siminole, TX. We arrived and waited for initiation. Storms formed nearby and to our south. We went for the storm to the south and experienced hail up to 1.3" The storms never did get as organized as we expected.

May 5

Our original target was in KS, but after looking at the RUC model, we targeted the southern target. A cell formed W of Roswell, NM and we had a good road to intercept it. We got to the storm W od Roswell and it had some nice structure to it. All the cars coming out of the storm had broken windows from the hail, so we decided not to let the core catch us.

May 4

The first day of tour #1. We traveled to Amarillo, TX. On the way we stopped to film a halo around the sun.

April 21

This storm was visible from the house. I took these pictures of lighting next to Orion from my roof.

March 30

I chased with Rocky Rascovich and Mark McGowan. Today's target was not very clear. We ended up going a little west of Oklahoma City. It wasn't long before towers developed in SW Oklahoma and we continued west. We dropped south to Corn, OK and observed the first storm. It was fairly high based and didn't look very promising. We abandoned it for another better looking storm to it's SW. Near Rocky, OK we watched as a wall cloud tried to form. Soon, we started to get hail. It got up to about 2.5 inches and we dropped south to get out of it. The storm moved over us and we continued east to stay up with it. It had a stacked plates appearance for a little while and produced a few brief funnels. After dark, we were going to stay in Binger and let the hail core come over us when it wrapped up better and we decided to go a little SE to get a view if it produced a tornado. We did witness power flashes, but couldn’t confirm anything. It produced some great lighting before we got behind it and continued to Union City then back home since it was getting late and not easy to see any features.
