April 14, 2001. Today started out with high hopes. We expected supercells to develop in SW oklahoma. We headded to Altus and checked data. Soonn a cell developed to our NW. We went for it. Jim gave us updates via cell phone. A tornado warning came out for our storm near Mangum, but it never produced a tornado. Today was strange. It was too foggy near the storm to see too many features. We tried to keep up with the storm on highway 19. It got ahead of us and another storm formed to our west. We decided to go for it. Soon it died and we had to turn around again. We got a nice view of the towers, but never cought up to it again.
